Slice Right Review: Watermelon Slicer
• Innovative design
• Works as advertised
• Cheaper knockoffs available
• Can't be used for much other than cakes or melons
• Rounded sides of melons won't produce uniform slices
Slight Right is advertised as a way to slice and serve melons, cakes, and other food with a single tool. It was lightly marketed in mid-2015, and appeared on store shelves in early 2016. We find it to be a useful tool for cutting cakes and melons, although whether you need a special tool for those rare occasions may be debatable.

Slice Right Reviews
Slight Right is a product which allows the consumer to slice and serve perfect watermelon slices every time.
The product has been marketed on and off since mid-2015, and we evaluated it soon thereafter. Our researchers correctly speculated that Slice Right would increase its marketing presence as Spring 2016 arrived, when watermelon consumption increases.
Slice Right is best used on a watermelon which has been cut in half. You simply turn it so that the thin bar is faced downward, and glide it along the rind, from the far side, along the bottom, and up the other side. Because there are two blades spaced apart, this allows you to create uniform slices every time. After you’ve created your slice, you can then squeeze the two blades together in order to grip your slice like a pair of tongs.
This hybrid slicer-meets-tongs is a great invention and user reviews have reflected that. Slice Right – and a number of products like it – generally receive high marks for its ability to slice watermelon quickly and easily.
Cutting and serving cake is perhaps even easier due to the fact that there is no rind to contend with. A square cake is ideal, as the entire cake can be cut into uniform pieces. Round cakes can be a bit more problematic toward the sides.

There are watermelon slicers which perform differently, such as Perfect Slicer. In 2016 a number of Slice Right knockoffs appeared on Amazon, such as the CnHonorable Watermelon Slicer, which sells for a little over $8. The current Amazon #1 Best Seller in this category is Sweet Slice, which we have reviewed here. Some of the knockoffs have been described as more durable than Slice Right.

My husband went into a store (As Seen on TV) for me to purchase the Slice Right tool on Saturday. The tool looked neat and seemed at first to be able to do the job of cutting the watermelon, however after I got it home I tried it on the watermelon we had. The tool broke after using it one time. The metal between the sides popped out of its holes. I kept putting it back in the holes but it would not stay there. On Sunday my husband called the store back and said it broke and we would like to return it, they said I could but only for a store credit. I am returning the Slice Right tool to the store on Monday. It is a poorly made item, so save your time and money, don’t buy!
