Simply Straight is a 2-in-1 ceramic hair brush and straightener which was featured on HSN in late December 2015 and has been advertised on television since then. This electric ceramic styling brush it said to straighten and brush hair at the same time. This is achieved through heat which is delivered to each bristle, which is then brushed through the hair.

The technique to achieve straightened and brushed hair is to select a portion of hair and then brush, making sure the hair moves across the bristles. It may require a slightly different technique than either brushing or straightening, with more of a twist of the wrist in order to keep the hair flat against as many bristles as possible.

Another important point is the hold your hair at the end as you brush it. You’ll want to brush your hair with a regular hair brush first in order to remove knots and tangles, as this could disrupt the effectiveness of Simply Straight (more on that later). You’ll also want to use it on dry hair only, and ideally there will be no product in your hair such as gels or hair spray.

There are three buttons on Simply Straight: On/Off, and heat controls, with a maximum temperature of 450 degrees. The handle doesn’t get any hotter than you’d expect with a flat iron, although the back of the brush does heat up to the point that you may want to avoid touching it.

The instructions are moderately helpful, although the importance of the section describing which temperature is best for different types of hair seems understated. If you have thin or delicate hair, you’ll want to use the low setting of 365 degrees. Medium is 410 for average hair types, while high (450 degrees) is best for thick or curly hair.
