Laser X Review
Laser X is an electronic laser tag game for kids. Inside the box you’ll find a blaster plus a strap-on vest sensor. The blaster requires six AAA batteries, which are not included. You’ll also find a headphone jack which allows you to clearly hear the soundtrack and sound effects. An interactive voice coach offers helpful tips during your battle, and will inform you when you’ve been eliminated from the game.
You have probably seen laser tag facilities in your town. In this intense high tech shooting game, participants strap on a sensor vest and wield a laser gun. Whenever a player is “shot” by another player, the vest will record that hit.
Laser tag is a great way for kids, teens, and even adults to have some high tech fun while also getting a little exercise. The typical laser tag session in a professional facility is about $8 per person per game, while others charge for timed sessions. Thus a single two-player game of laser tag could cost you about $16.
For laser tag enthusiasts, a $50 price tag for two players is about the cost of three laser tag sessions, and with Laser X you can play all day, as many days as you want.
Keep in mind that you can’t actually see your shots being fired, as implied by the lit-up guns on the box. There are laser tag facilities that have guided lasers, but that is not the case with Laser X.
We like the 200 foot range, which should be more than sufficient for most players. The requirement of 6 batteries for the blaster is perhaps our only complaint, but it’s a minor irritant in an otherwise fine product.
