Smoothxbike Reviews
Gold Medalist Dorothy Hamill lends her name to yet another exercise bike (the first being Sit N Cycle) which is advertised on television.
The design itself includes a number of features which are aimed at maximizing comfort for most users. The bike has a relatively small surface area footprint of about 760 square inches, which means it is ideal for compact spaces versus standard full-sized exercise bikes or recumbent bikes. There are also 8 resistance levels, which should be sufficient for the average user. Its 300-pound weight limit should also handle the majority of consumers interested in the product. The handlebar includes pulse sensors and and LCD display which is operated by two AA batteries.
A number of useful features are included such as transport wheels to allow the unit to be moved with ease. The pedals also feature straps which allow a proper and secure fit.
Regarding its advertised benefits, Smoothxbike does deliver on its promises. It is quiet, resistance is acceptable, and the compact design lends itself to even small apartments. Consumers will appreciate that they included the required AA batteries for the LCD, which is a surprising omission by several exercise machines.
There is, however, the dreaded assembly, which may be trying for the non-DIY types.
A problem which plagues most at-home exercise bikes is that of squeaking, which we did not find to be the case in our evaluation of smoothXbike.
At $300, Smoothxbike is somewhat expensive. There are numerous compact exercise bikes on the market for less, and we’re not sure the marketing of SmoothXbike has delivered a compelling reason to choose this over cheaper alternatives.
