SimpliSafe is a home security system which addresses the most glaring problems with many of its competitors: Long, expensive contracts, and a system that is complicated to use. The system itself is an easy plug-and-play setup which can be installed in minutes, while monitoring is optional. Most of the elements expected from a complete system are included, except video cameras.
The equipment arrives already programmed to work, so all you have to do is plug the parts in and they will function out of the box. By purchasing and installing SimpliSafe, you own the equipment outright and can move it whenever and wherever needed. The monitoring is optional, and if you decide not to use monitoring, the system will still work as a local alarm to alert you and (hopefully) scare off intruders. You can choose to have your system monitored from one of three price ranges: Standard, Alert, and Interactive. These range from $14.99 to $24.99 a month.
Equipment options include base station, entry sensor, motion sensor, panic button, freeze sensor, sirens, wireless keypad, key-chain remote, and water sensor.
One potential flaw in the system is that intruders could destroy the base station within the system’s 30-second grace period in order to circumvent the alarm from sounding. Another caveat is that if you have spotty T-Mobile connectivity in your area, monitoring could be affected as that is the provider for SimpliSafe.
Overall, however, SimpliSafe is a highly-rated and worthy entrant in the home security category.
